So I now officially have a five year old. I cannot believe how quickly time has gone by. He is such and amazing boy. He is always so thoughtful of his little sister and baby brother, he makes a point to share and consider others feelings. He has such a kind unselfish heart and so as a parent when he asks for something he really, really wants it is hard to say no. Especially since he doesn't ask for things like this very often. Just look at the look on his face, he was so excited when he opened it and he's barely been able to put it down since. On Christmas day Hunter went up to Kira and said that he wished he had asked Santa for a Spider Man computer. He had asked for a Transformer which he was excited about but he had mentioned a couple of times before Christmas seeing a Spider Man computer at a store one day. Well when it came time to talk to Santa he asked for a Transformer. No problem I thought, I was so excited because I had loved transformers growing up and to think that my son could have the same toys is kinda fun and nostalgic. Well it turns out that the Spider Man computer was his true desire, in his young excited four year old mind he must have mixed it up. There's a lot of pressure talking to Santa when your that young. Anyway Kira described to me the look on his face, he seemed so sad, like he realized he had missed the chance to get what he truly wanted. So then began the search. It turns out this computer was a hot item for the holiday season and all the stores seemed to be sold out. It was the same story online, Kira actually found one on e-bay but lost the bidding, it was doubtful we would have gotten it in time any way. I guess this is the disadvantage of having a birthday so soon after Christmas. We had already bought him a bike, it was on sale at Toy's R Us for the holiday shopping. Hunter kept mentioning the computer though. He really, really, wanted one. So Kira kept searching, hoping stores would get it back in stock in time. I searched every retail store that has toys that we could find.
Wal-mart, Target, KB Toys, Toys R Us. Then about a week before his birthday Kira saw that K-mart had the toy online but it was sold out. So I figured we might as well check it out and sure enough, there it was. Three of them actually, I flinched a little at the 47.50 price tag but like I said, he is such a good boy. So to my my amazing five year old. Happy Birthday. If at all possible please slow down this growing up process you seem so bent on rushing through. Every day I am more and more amazed at what an wonderful person you are growing up to be. I'm glad I'm lucky enough to be your daddy, I love you.

Here's a few more pics from the birthday starting with his good morning wake up happy birthday hug from his sweet little sister, breakfast in bed, his new bike, and enjoying some popcorn at the new veggie tales movie. Enjoy!

How sweet-what a lucky boy to have such great parents. Happy Birthday, Hunter!
What a sweet post!!! How fun, I think we described one part of our children growing up pretty similarly. I also feel like my kids rush through it :)
Hunter had one amazing birthday. You know what? Alison snail mailed a letter to Santa asking for a Barbie computer, and we should have pursued it more. All they had at Walmart were preschool level ones, and I didn't even try online. I still think she should get one as an oops, this one must have got stuck in the chimney type gift.
You're an amazing dad. How fun that you are so well-invested and generous with your love and time. I am so glad you have started a blog to share all those good times! Your blog is my favorite to read updates on.
As for your question about being able to follow my blog. I will try and remember to open my blog before publishing it, so it will send a ping. Then close it back up. It seems counter-intuitive to be private and do that, but I only send out a summary ping, and whoever reads it would need to log in to the blog to see the rest. So I'm not too worried about it.
Love you!!!
Thanks Sis, love you too.
